Village of Smithton Committee as a Whole met Jan. 28.
Here is the minutes provided by the committee:
Mayor Smallwood, Trustees Yoch, Becherer, Rogers, Elbe, Henning and Mourey were present. The meeting was called to order at 7:20pm.
BUDGET & FINANCE
Trustee Becherer reported that he is doing research on interest rates for the Village CDs. He will keep the board informed. The trustees and the Mayor began reviewing the budget.
STREET DEPARTMENT NEW EQUIPMENT
Trustee Rogers reminded the board of the lease option for a mini excavator for the street department. There would be a purchase option at the end of three years. This item will be put on the agenda for the next Village Board meeting.
COMMUNITY CLEAN-UP
Mayor Smallwood reminded the board that they need to work out the details of the street department being present at the park for the Community Clean-up in May. The board decided that they would like to have someone there from 7:00am to 7:00pm. Trustee Rogers will work with Supervisor Klein on the details.
POLICE PERSONNEL
Trustee Elbe informed the board that Chief Neff would like to send two officers to a class for evidence training in April. Elbe will make a motion for approval at the next Village Board meeting.
Trustee Elbe informed the board that Chief Neff has an applicant for the part-time police officer job opening. Neff will keep the board informed.
CODE BOOK UPDATE
Trustee Yoch reported that he met with Engineer Saeger and can now complete the utilities section of the code book. Zoning ordinances still need to be reviewed by Attorney Durso.
VILLAGE HALL LANDSCAPING
Trustee Mourey and the board reviewed an estimate for landscaping around village hall. Mourey stated that he did talk to Supervisor Klein about the plans. Klein stated that the street crew could remove the existing shrubbery and level the areas. Mourey will talk to the landscaper and go over the trustee’s suggestions. He will keep the board informed.
Trustee Mourey informed the board that Supervisor Klein would like to put in a concrete floor at the shed and put in a loft to make more storage room. The board will discuss it further before making a decision.
