Analysis: Bethalto pays $4.44 for every $1 pensioners contribute to Bethalto Police Pension Fund

Taxpayers contributed 80.1 percent of the $503,155 the Bethalto Police Pension Fund brought in 2018, or $4.44 for every $1 from pension members, according to a Metro East Sun analysis of the latest data reported to the Illinois Department of Insurance Pension Division.

In all, Bethalto contributed $402,889 to the fund, which saw a $9,759 increase in revenue over 2017. Members contributed $90,643, or 18 percent, in 2018. Another $9,623 came from other unspecified sources.
