City of Granite City Finance Committee met July 7.

Alderman Jackstadt called the Finance Committee Meeting to order.
Jackstadt turned the meeting over to Comptroller Oney to explain the Budget.
Comptroller Oney stated that we have a Public Hearing for the Budget next meeting at 5:30 p.m. Some things have changes due to the Covid 19 Virus. No gaming taxes have been collect due to the shutdown. People have stayed home and bought local. We are a staple community (food, fast food sales and automobile tax. Our sales tax for the month of May was more than last year. State projected a 10% reduction on tax. We have held solid on everything else. I have budgeted for 10% increase for health insurance. We have settled with the Fire Department and had to pay back pay and that is where the deficit. I have also budgeted for the full year for Sewer Collection Fund we still have the appropriation for them.
Mayor stated that we would have the bids the new Fire Engine at the next Meeting
