87 percent of applicants to Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville were admitted for fall 2018

At Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville, 85 percent of undergraduate students are traditional students - age 24 or younger - and 53 percent are female, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The four-year public institution in Edwardsville enrolled 13,281 students in fall 2018, including 10,833 in undergraduate and 2,448 in graduate programs, data shows. 11.4 percent of undergraduates transferred from another college or university.

83 percent of undergraduates are residents of Illinois, and 16 percent are residents of other states. 1 percent are citizens of foreign countries.

The undergraduate student body is comprised mostly of students who identify as white (73 percent) and Black or African American (13 percent).

The school admitted 87 percent of the 6,410 students who applied for fall 2018. Of those who were admitted, 30 percent enrolled.
