St Jacob Township Fire Protection District responded to eight calls in 2018 - 50 percent less than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in St Jacob included five fires - one vehicle fire and four other fires.

In all, the department saw $10,000 in fire loss - or about $2,000 per fire.

The department also received three false calls.
