City of Belleville Traffic Committee met Nov. 10.

Here is the minutes provided by the committee:

Alderman Ovian called the meeting to order at 8:00 a.m.

Minutes of October 13, 2020 approved as submitted.

PUBLIC PARTICIPATION:

None

OLD BUSINESS:

E1. None

NEW BUSINESS:

F1. S. 30th St. Alley Stop Signs: Lt. Col. Eiskant brought this to Master Sgt. Rusť' attention and requested that this item be added to the Traffic agenda. Behind Suburban Motors at S. 30th & W. Main St., there is a T intersection alleyway which used to have two stop signs at this intersection because there is a blind spot on the southeast corner. One of the stop signs is down, so it will need to be replaced and there is no City ordinance at this time to support it. Motion for a Two-Way Stop Sign in the alley at the rear of 3006 W. Main St. made by Ald. Ferguson, seconded by Ald. Anthony, roll call vote occurred. Motion carried.

F2. Handicap Parking Spaces on W. Main from gth - 12th St.: (2) Handicap Spaces at Southeast & Southwest Corners of W. Main St. at 9th St., (1) Space at the Northeast Corner of W. Main St. & N. 10th St., (1) Space at 1018 W. Main St., and (2) Spaces at the Northwest & Southwest Corners of W. Main at 11th St.: The City Engineer stated that the City had to add additional ADA spaces o W. Main St. for the new streetscape per IDOT requirements, but there is no City ordinance to support these additional handicap spaces that were needed. Motion to place handicap parking spaces at the following locations (IDOT required spaces for the new streetscape) made by Ald. Elmore, seconded by Ald. Ferguson, roll call vote occurred. Motion carried.

MISCELLANEOUS/ALDERMANIC DISCUSSION:

Ald. Elmore stated that he has already had a discussion with Master Sgt. Rust and Det. Wallace about speeding issues in the Green Mount Manor Subdivision due to the cut through off Greenmount Ln. from the back side of Wal-Mart. Ald. Elmore asked if the City Engineer would be able to set some traffic counters in this area to help determine the times and days of these speeding occurrences. Discussion ensued. Ald. Elmore requested that this item be added to next month's agenda for further discussion.

ADJOURNMENT: Motion to adjourn made by Ald. Elmore, seconded by Ald. Ferguson. Meeting adjourned at 8:12 a.m.
