City of Madison City Council met Nov. 23.

Mayor opened the public hearing with Gene Norber with EDR on zoom to explain the TIF Expansion and to answer any questions regarding the River's Edge TIF Expansion. Mayor explained that this is the 2nd Public Hearing for the River's Edge TIF Expansion due to the first notices that were mailed non-certified.
Gene gave presentation explaining the area that that will be expanded and why. Area of expansion is a blighted area and the expansion will allow TIF funds from the River's Edge TIF to be used towards Street Repairs on Fox Industrial Drive and other areas that will now be within the expansion. Mayor showed the public the map of the area we are expanding the River's Edge TIF to include.
Members of the Public were asked if there were any questions. We had questions submitted by a citizen via email from Sara Stratton. questions were: Question: Since both sides of street on 3rd Street were surveyed last year why will only one side of street get fixed. Answer: The survey last year had nothing to do with the River's Edge TIF it was an IDOT study. Question: Will the City being widening 3rd Street or resurfacing. Answer: There are No plans to Widen 3rd Street at all. Question: Need more police to control the speeding on 3rd Street and wants better signs installed on 3rd Street indicating where the Truck Route is. Answer: The signs posted are IDOT approved regulation signs. The police presence will be addressed but this has nothing to do with the River's Edge TIF Expansion. Other members of Public asking questions were Mark Jiles regarding School District or New Development, Marvin Bradley owns a commercial building in the new TIF expansion wanted to know how it would affect his business. He was advised he can make an appointment for City to answer any other questions that he needs explained further.
Fox Industrial Drive is in desperate need of Repairs and expanding the River's Edge TIF will allow the City to use the funds to repair Fox Industrial Drive. The River's Edge TIF Expansion will also allow City to make more road repairs in areas we have expanded to.
