SPRINGFIELD, IL – Today, Governor Pritzker delivered his combined State of the State and Budget address. Unfortunately for Metro East voters exhausted with business as usual, Rep. Katie Stuart is likely to continue her pattern of irresponsible spending.

“Katie Stuart’s record of supporting politician pay raises, tax increases on families and small businesses, and more borrowing puts her at odds with metro east voters,” said Jayme Odom, executive director of the Illinois House Republican Organization. “With her district’s overwhelming rejection of the Tax Hike Amendment, now is the time for Rep. Stuart to choose the interests of 112th District residents over self interest.”

Gov. Pritzker and House Democrats have repeatedly refused to implement common sense fiscal reforms, instead turning to gimmicks and wishful thinking. Last year, with Rep. Stuart’s support, Democrats passed an FY21 budget billions of dollars out of balance, hoping for federal taxpayers to bail out the mismanaged state. Now that voters have made it clear they do not want and cannot afford another tax increase, will Rep. Stuart finally stand with the hardworking families of her district, or continue to align herself with the Chicago politicians supporting her campaigns?
