U.S. Rep. Rodney Davis (R-Decatur) and 188 other Republican lawmakers are accusing the Biden administration of secretly working with social media networks to censor free speech.

Davis recently joined the other Republican lawmakers in penning a letter to the White House on the subject, which included calls for the administration to cease working with social media companies to clandestinely censor speech across their websites.

"The Biden-Harris Administration is secretly censoring speech they deem as ‘misinformation’ in coordination with social media companies on their platforms,” Davis said in a post to Facebook. "The answer to speech you disagree with should be more speech, not less. As a staunch defender of the First Amendment and free speech, I believe the Administration is attacking every American's fundamental and Constitutional right to free speech with their actions.”

Davis said he felt compelled to join forces with other lawmakers who see things as he does and thus fully understand what’s at stake.

"That's why I, along with 188 other House Republicans, are urging President Biden to stop censoring speech and give answers to the public regarding the White House's secret censorship program,” he said.

In the letter, Davis and the other lawmakers requested the administration provide “a list of every social media company” the White House is working with to censor content and “a complete list of social media posts and content the Biden-Harris administration has flagged for social media companies to censor.”
