Jennifer Korte is running to represent Illinois District 112 in the upcoming June 28 primary election, admitting to not having political experiences.
“I am proud to endorse Korte for State Representative for Illinois District 112,” Senator Jason Plummer wrote on Facebook.
Korte wrote on her website she volunteered in a local pregnancy care center.
In a Facebook post on May 10, Korte announced his endorsement:
“I am proud to have the support of Senator Plummer. Senator Plummer has served our region well as an independent, conservative leader in Springfield. He is a true public servant. I look forward to working with him in Springfield on behalf of Madison and St. Clair County residents.”
Ballotpedia wrote Korte fights for the position with Democrat candidate Katie Stuart and Republican candidate Joe Hackler.
“Korte is a hard worker and I know she will be a strong and independent voice for the residents of the 112th District,” Sen. Plummer wrote on Facebook. “Korte is a wife, a mother, a life-long resident of Madison County, and a passionate advocate for many important issues that impact our neighbors and our communities. We need more citizen legislators in Springfield and I am excited about Korte’s campaign because she is not a politician and she is not beholden to anyone. We need more people like that in Springfield if we are going to fix our great state.”
Hackler added his name to the ballot with experiences in various levels of government.
“I am running for state representative because I’m tired of seeing young families like my own flee Illinois for places with lower taxes and more opportunity,” Hackler said on Madison-St. Clair Record. “Illinois is my home, and I’m staying to fight for it. We deserve a state government on the side of taxpayers, not corrupt insiders and Springfield special interests.”
Korte is a lifelong resident of Madison County and earned a bachelor’s degree in social work from SIUE. She earned a master’s degree in social work from St. Louis University and worked as a social worker at Barnes-Jewish Hospital before becoming a stay-at-home mom in 2005.
