Darren Bailey has endorsed Kevin Schmidt for state representative in the 114th District.

State senator and candidate for governor, Bailey is urging voters in the 114th District to vote for the true conservative in the race.

“Kevin Schmidt is a true conservative and the only candidate you can trust to represent your values in Springfield,” Bailey said. “I urge Republicans in the 114th District to join me in supporting pro-life, pro-2nd Amendment, pro-reform candidate Kevin Schmidt.”

Change can only happen in Illinois if new faces will be voted to run the state, according to Bailey.

“Now more than ever we need legislators who will stand up for conservative principles,” he said. “Illinois is a great state, and it can recover from the decades of mismanagement and misplaced priorities. We can make state government work again for ALL Illinois residents, but it won’t happen as long as the same corrupt, career politicians remain in office. We need outsiders like Kevin Schmidt speaking for us in Springfield. Together we can restore Illinois.”

Board-certified chiropractor Schmidt is the proprietor of Schmidt Chiropractic, which has offices in Millstadt and Freeburg. He grew up in Belleville and received his high school diploma from Belleville West. In the 114th District, he is running as a Republican. June 28 is the primary election day.

Prior to the 2020 Republican primary, Schmidt ran for state representative in the 116th. With his wife of 13 years, Laura, and their two boys, Dean and Luke, Schmidt resides in Millstadt. In Millstadt, Laura and her brother own and operate Custom Marble, according to Schmidt's campaign bio.

Bailey is an outdoorsman and a strong supporter of the Second Amendment as well as a member of the Illinois State Rifle Association. He lives in Bailey Family Farm near Louisville with his wife of 35 years, Cindy. The two have four married children and are grandparents of eleven kids. They attend Crossroots Church in Effingham.

Schmidt recently posted photos of his sons using a rifle.

“Sighting in our new CVA 350 legend single shot deer hunting rifle for the new 2023 laws. The boys shot fantastic! We will for the first time in my life, actually be allowed to use a hunting rifle to hunt deer with in Illinois,” Schmidt said on Facebook.
