Senator Terri Bryant hosted a fundraising event at the Du Quoin American Legion as the November general election is on its way.
“We had a great time at my State Fair Affair fundraising event at the Du Quoin American,” Bryant wrote on Facebook.
Ballotpedia noted Bryant is running unopposed again for the November general election.
Bryant has held a variety of events to help senior citizens get the healthcare they need throughout this year.
Vote smart noted Bryant voted against House Bill 2, a bill that’ll protect women’s rights for scientifically based evidence of maternity health care. Gov. J.B. Pritzker signed it into law in 2020.
“This is a sad time in our nation’s history," Senator Diane Pappas said in a release. “Overturning Roe v. Wade will only hurt women by forcing them to resort to unsafe procedures. Although I am proud that Illinois took important steps to protect these rights, it is devastating to know some women may now struggle by not having the same level of care in their state.”
She has also shared her views on abortion and opposed a move that expanded funding for abortion providers.
“More of your hard-earned money [is] being spent to provide abortions for anyone that wants one,” Bryant said recently in a Facebook post. “Remember [that] in Illinois, all pregnant woman [sic] – regardless of income – qualify for Medicaid. That means 100% taxpayer-funded abortion."
Voter smart also noted Bryant voted against Senate Bill 18, a bill that requires the state to transition energy production from renewable sources by 2050.
Pritzker signed the Climate and Equitable Jobs Act as the state’s effort to go green with its energy.
“For over two years, stakeholders and legislators on both sides of (the) aisle have tirelessly worked on crafting legislation that would both preserve our state’s critically needed nuclear fleet and put Illinois on a path to a better and cleaner energy future,” Senator Sue Rezin said in a release. “[The] signing of Senate Bill 2408, we not only preserve our state’s entire nuclear fleet and their thousands of good-paying jobs but take an important step to (achieve) our 2050 carbon-free goals and (create) even more jobs throughout the state of Illinois.”
In the June 28 election, Bryant ran unopposed in her efforts to serve the residents of District 58.
