In a Nov. 3 Facebook post, State Rep. Charlie Meier, R-Okawville, shared that he donated blood in Nashville.

“I was able to donate blood in Nashville this week,” he wrote on Facebook, adding the hashtags #feelsgoodtohelp and #americanredcross.

According to a recent KSDK article, Meier has been making headlines as he’s focused on the need for improved care for the residents of Community Integrated Living Arrangement (CILA) program homes.

“This is the story on CILAs,” Meier posted on Facebook, also sharing a recent KSDK news story about the state’s Community Integrated Living Arrangement (CILA) program, in which up to eight unrelated adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities live in taxpayer-funded group homes licensed by the state and operated by a private community development service agency.

Moreover, in the KSDK article that Meier shared on social media, he pointed out to the publication that the state hadn’t been looking out for the residents of CILA homes very well.

“Not yet," Meier said in the article. “Somebody has got to be there to watch out for them.”

According to Meier’s legislative biography, he was first elected as a state representative for the 108th District in 2013. Prior to that, according to the biography, he served for six years years on the Washington County Board. He currently lives in Washington County on his family's Centennial Farm. In 2009, according to the biography, Meier was awarded the Illinois Conservation Farm Family of the Year. In addition to his agricultural endeavors, Meier also is a developer, focusing on subdivisions with villas and single-family residences, according to the bio.
