City of Jerseyville City Council met Sept. 20.

Here are the minutes provided by the council:

The Jerseyville City Council held their regular meeting at the Jerseyville City Hall at 6:00 p.m. via teleconference due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The public was invited to attend by calling the teleconference phone number.

ROLL CALL: Present were Commissioners Kevin Stork, Steve Pohlman, and Zachary Crawford. Nick Bexheti and Mayor William Russell were absent. City Attorney William Strang was also present.

Commissioner Pohlman led the opening prayer and Pledge of Allegiance was recited.

A motion was made by Comm. Pohlman, seconded by Comm. Crawford, to approve the minutes from the meeting held Tuesday, September 6, 2022. Roll call vote showed all voted aye, no nays, motion carried.

A motion was made by Comm. Crawford, seconded by Comm. Pohlman, to approve the bills as presented for September 20, 2022, in the amount of $340,454.25. Roll call vote showed all voted aye, no nays, motion carried.

A motion was made by Comm. Pohlman, seconded by Comm. Crawford, to approve the City Clerk to attend the Municipal Clerks of Illinois Institute and Academy training in Bloomington, Illinois from October 11th through 14th. Roll call vote showed all voted aye, no nays, motion carried.

A motion was made by Comm. Crawford, seconded by Comm. Pohlman, to approve a proclamation dedicating the last Sunday in September as Gold Star Mother’s and Family Day. Comm. Stork read the proclamation. Roll call vote showed all voted aye, no nays, motion carried.

In other business, Chief Norman mentioned the following: Dale Miles has resigned from the Fire Department, working with Jeff Soer to get a couple of rental properties cleaned up, reported 3 fire calls last week, and he is applying for another small equipment grant similar to the one the fire department received two years ago, and planning to sell the two side by sides the fire department have that they cannot keep running and buy one that is more easily operable. City Attorney Strang will draft an ordinance to comply with selling of surplus property. Director of Public Works Manns announced a public informational meeting and special Council meeting will be scheduled for Tuesday, September 27th for discussion and approval of submitting an IDOT/ITEP grant for sidewalk project and IDOR/ISLAD grant for splash pad. Manns also wanted to thank public works crew for their work at Lions Club Park and oil/chip project. Director of Building and Zoning Soer reminded everyone of the Pickleball tournament to be held this upcoming weekend at Lions Club Park in support of the Teens program.

No public comment.

A motion was made by Comm. Crawford, seconded by Comm. Pohlman, to go into closed session to discuss personnel. Roll call vote showed all voted aye, no nays, motion carried.

Being no other business to be discussed, and no action taken from closed session, a motion was made by Comm. Bexheti, seconded by Comm. Crawford, to adjourn the meeting at 6:44 p.m. Roll call vote showed all voted aye, no nays, motion carried.
