City of Collinsville Community Appearance Board met Sept. 14.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

A. CALL TO ORDER:

Brown Sr. called the meeting to order at 6:00 pm.

B. ROLL CALL

Present: (7) Dia Bolandis, Michelle Brown, Brion Brown Sr., Joe Calza, Liz Dalton, Janice Georg and Judy Nelson

Absent: (5) Lisa Brennan, Brion Brown Jr., Susan Hellige, Ken Jones and Hayley Skelton

Also Present: Director of Parks and Recreation Kimberly Caughran.

C. SPEAKERS FROM THE FLOOR

D. DISCUSSION

E. APPROVAL OF MINUTES

A motion was made by Dalton, seconded by Michelle Brown to approve the minutes of the August 10, 2022, meeting. The motion carried by unanimous vote.

Absent: 5

Abstain: 0

F. NEW BUSINESS

a. Yard of the Month Contest:

i. A motion was made by Nelson, seconded by Calza to recess the meeting at 6:04 pm.

ii. The meeting was reconvened at 7:02 pm by Brown Sr.

iii. Yard of the Month Scoring: Nelson add the scores up and reported the results: 1st place 411 Camelot Drive, 2nd place 12 Delta Drive.

b. Halloween House Decorating Contest Judging: Caughran confirmed with the board members that they will be willing to judge the Halloween House Decorating Contest again this October. The dates for judging will be between the 19th and 23rd of October.

c. Brown, Sr. brought up the making of the trees for the wedge. The plan is to work on the trees on October 13 at 6 pm.

G. OLD BUSINESS

a. 2022 Projects

i. Beltline/Highway 159 Island: The plan is to work on cleaning up the island on October 15 after the litter pick up. Georg asked if anyone knew where to get purple tulip bulbs.

ii. West Main Street/ Westmoreland Island: Nelson reported that she worked on it a couple week ago.

iii. St. Louis Road/Caseyville Road Island: Brown, Sr. reported that it looks great. He asked if the parks department can kill the sage again.

iv. Listemann Park: Dalton reported that it is looking good. Dalton asked if the crew moved a pot at the park.

v. Uptown Area: Dalton will leave the cannas in the uptown pots because they look so good.

vi. Century Oak: Needs weeded.

vii. Litter Pick Up: The next litter pick up is scheduled for October 15 at 7 am. b. Listemann Park Signs: Caughran has not followed up on this project.

H. STAFF REPORT

Caughran reported on the shelters and the new playground that will be installed next week. She reported that the Aqua Park is closed and listed the upcoming fall programs including Tunes at Blum.

I. COMMENTS FROM COMMISSION MEMBERS

Brown, Sr. asked about the Facebook business shoutouts. The board members will work better on it next year. He mentioned that the bushes at the big Collinsville sign needs trimmed back and they are full of bagworms.

K. ADJOURNMENT: A motion was made by Nelson, seconded by Dalton to adjourn the meeting at 7:28 pm.
