City of Edwardsville Foreign Fire Insurance Board met Dec. 5.
Here are the minutes provided by the board:
Meeting was called to order at 1259. Members present were Heuchert, Rieger, Gooden, Signorotti, Kemper, and Whiteford. Wilfong absent.
Visitors McKee, Schonlau, Schrage, Douglas, Holder, Morgan and Milton present.
Minutes of the previous meeting presented. Motion by Gooden, 2nd by Rieger to approve. Motion carried.
Treasurer’s report presented. Still waiting on this year’s check. Current balance $52,566.85. Including current outstanding purchase and yearly recuring expenses, approx $36,995.42 available for this meeting.
Elections were held 12/12. Fifteen ballots were received electronically. Hall was election official. Results as follows:
Heuchert - 15
Rieger - 15
Douglas - 12
Motion by Heuchert, 2nd by Gooden to ratify. Motion carried
New member Douglas assumed his position on the board.
Appointment of Officers
- Motion by Heuchert, 2nd by Rieger to nominate Kemper for Chairman. No other nominations were made. Motion by Heuchert, 2nd by Gooden to cast unanimous ballot elect Kemper by acclimation. Motion carried.
- Motion by Heuchert, 2nd by Gooden to nominate Rieger for Treasurer. No other nominations were made. Motion by Heuchert, 2nd by Gooden to cast unanimous ballot elect Rieger by acclimation. Motion carried
- Motion by Rieger, 2nd by Gooden to nominate Heuchert for Secretary. No other nominations were made. Motion by Rieger, 2nd by Kemper to cast unanimous ballot elect Heuchert by acclimation. Motion carried
Request for Expenditures – New
- Request from Schonlau for funds to purchase body armor, funds NTE $5000. Requesting 4 helmets and 4 vests with FIRE/EMS placards. New equipment would replace what we have from STARRS that is expiring. New equipment would be placed on frontline EMS units. Current equipment would be placed on engine with mass casualty bag. Motion by Heuchert, 2nd by Kemper to approve. Discussion. Motion carried.
- Request from Schrage for battery leaf blowers for each station for drying vehicles. Proposal would be to purchase 1 initially for Station 1 to test out. Based on results of testing, decision would be made to purchase the other 2. Test period would be 30 days. Motion by Heuchert, 2nd by Kemper to table. Discussion. Request tabled.
- Request from Mayfield to purchase larger Tupperware for all stations. Mayfield was not present for the meeting and no one had any additional information on his request. No
- Request from Rieger to purchase cordless phones for each station. Will discuss with city IT dept to make sure we get the type of phone. Not enough information right now to be able to present a specific item. Will meet with IT and bring back to the committee at a later date.
- Request from Rieger to purchase boot dryers for each station. Approx $50/ea, up to $250 total. Motion by Heuchert, 2nd by Kemper to approve. Discussion. Motion carried.
- Request from Rieger for up to $250 for new silverware for all stations. Motion by Kemper, 2nd by Heuchert to approve. Motion carried.
- Request from Rieger for approx for a hot dog roller for Station 1. Approx cost $110.49, request NTE $250. Motion by Heuchert, 2nd by Rieger to approve. Discussion. 2 yes. 3 no, 1 abstain. Motion failed.
- Request from Rieger for funds to purchase new coffee cups for all stations. Request for funds NTE $500 for custom cups. Motion by Heuchert, 2nd by Gooden to approve. Discussion. Motion carried.
No other requests.
Old Business
- $8500 approved for the powerload stretcher on 1343 is still on the books. McKee will look into it and report back.
New Business
- Heuchert proposed renewing gear allowance funds for 2023. Motion by Heuchert, 2nd by Gooden to approve. Deadline March meeting. 5 yes, 1 no. Motion carried.
