In a series of social media posts, former GOP candidate for state representative Jennifer Korte has called for a line-item veto in the state's budget to condemn funding for organizations they label as supporters of terrorism.

Korte specifically mentions allocations to Black Lives Matter.

The controversy surrounding this issue has escalated, with concerns about public funds being directed to groups with perceived affiliations to terrorist activities.

“IL Budget via senate bill 250. Look on Page 129 of the insanely inflated budget. @illinoisdems

and @GovPritzker agreed to pay $300,000 to BLM. We need a line item veto to condemn funding supporters of terrorists. #twill #HateGroup #HateSpeech," Korte said on X.

Korte followed up with another post calling on voters to contact elected officials.

“IL Taxpayers will be funding $300,000 to known supporters of terrorists,” she posted to X.

“Call to Action: Call @GovPritzker and @illinoisdems (no Republicans supported this). Tell them to take this out of our budget. IL taxpayers should not be funding groups that support terrorism. Gov. Pritzker: 312-814-2121 or 312-814-2122 Any legislator that does not actively condemn this, is directly in support of it. #BLMChicago #BLMSupportsTerrorism #twill #Illinois."

Korte’s comments came after BLM Chicago posted a graphic of a hang gliding militant, a nod to how many of the terrorists entered Israeli territory with the caption, “I stand with Palestine.”

BLM Chicago later partially walked back the controversial post celebrating Hamas' actions in Israel, acknowledging that the deleted graphic wasn't something they were proud of.

This came as BLM Global Network Foundation distanced itself from the Chicago chapter and BLM Grassroots, which faced criticism for posts related to the Hamas attack and was accused of glorifying the terrorists.

State Rep. Jed Davis (R-Newark) also criticized BLM funding in the state’s budget.

“Disgraceful. As a reminder, your state’s budget included funds for BLM this year,” Davis said on Facebook.
