The past few weeks have been busy for Illinois State Representative Kevin Schmidt, who has been actively engaging with constituents and business owners in his district. He emphasized his commitment to improving the state of Illinois, stating, "We have an uphill battle to turn things around in Illinois, but I am committed to standing up for the people I represent and will fight for a better future here in the Prairie State!"

Dr. Wallace recently visited Schmidt's office, where they discussed ways to enhance education and economic growth in East St. Louis and nearby areas. Schmidt expressed gratitude for the visit, noting that "working together creates stronger communities."

Schmidt hosted a successful SHRED event, which included donations that were delivered to the Millstadt Food Pantry. He is also organizing a blood drive with ImpactLife on July 23 at O’Fallon Township. While walk-ins are welcome, appointments are recommended to minimize wait times.

Additionally, Schmidt announced a free tire recycling event this Saturday at Freeburg Recreation Park for constituents in the 114th District.

In professional news, 24 more professions can now be licensed through IDFPR’s new online system, CORE. More details are available on their website.

Schmidt encourages nominations for the Business of the Month award within the 114th District. Nominations can be submitted online or by calling his office.

Recently, Schmidt attended a Dupo Chamber of Commerce meeting as a guest speaker. He took this opportunity to discuss state issues and recent legislation with constituents.

Illinois headlines include concerns about inflation problems in Chicago and St. Louis reflecting broader state struggles and Illinois ranking No. 1 for cell phone taxes before a recent hike.
