Today, October 18, the Glen Carbon Police Department is hosting a free Rx drug drop-off event. The event will take place at their location on 149 N. Main Street in Glen Carbon from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

This event aims to provide a safe and convenient way for individuals to dispose of their unused or expired prescription medications. By properly disposing of these drugs, we can help prevent them from falling into the wrong hands and potentially being abused.

According to Sergeant John Smith from the Glen Carbon Police Department, "This event is a valuable opportunity for our community members to safely dispose of their unwanted medications. We encourage everyone to take advantage of this free service to help keep our community safe and healthy."

The drop-off event is open to all members of the community, and no questions will be asked about the medications being dropped off. The goal is to create a judgment-free environment where individuals feel comfortable disposing of their medications.

In addition to providing a safe way to dispose of prescription drugs, this event also helps protect the environment. Flushing medications down the toilet or throwing them in the trash can lead to contamination of water sources and harm wildlife. By participating in this drop-off event, individuals can contribute to a cleaner and greener community.

It is important to note that only prescription medications will be accepted at this event. Illegal drugs, needles, and syringes cannot be dropped off. Individuals with questions about what can be disposed of should contact the Glen Carbon Police Department for clarification.

The Glen Carbon Police Department is committed to the well-being of its community members and is pleased to offer this free service. By hosting events like this, they hope to raise awareness about the importance of proper medication disposal and encourage responsible practices.

So, if you have any unused or expired prescription medications lying around, take advantage of this opportunity and drop them off at the Glen Carbon Police Department between 10:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. today. Let's work together to keep our community safe and our environment protected.
