State Representative Amy Elik's legislation has resulted in the retention of jobs and a significant investment in the East Alton area. Wieland Rolled Products, formerly known as Olin Brass, has announced its commitment to reinvesting in its East Alton facility.
During a dedication ceremony on Wednesday, January 17, State Representative Amy Elik, Governor JB Pritzker, and other state and local leaders joined company officials to express gratitude to Wieland Rolled Products for their decision to reinvest in Illinois.
"I'm thrilled that Wieland Rolled Products has chosen their East Alton facility to reinvest in advanced manufacturing jobs in the Metro East," said Rep. Amy Elik. "Today's announcement would not have been possible without the collaboration and cooperation of state, federal, and local leaders, as well as company officials, who worked together to ensure the retention of these skilled jobs in East Alton."
Rep. Elik's legislation, which was signed into law as part of Public Act 103-0009, provides tax incentives to businesses in Illinois that plan to convert or expand as electric vehicle manufacturers, electric vehicle component parts manufacturers, or renewable energy manufacturers. To be eligible for REV tax credits ranging from 75% to 100% of incremental income tax, manufacturers must retain at least 800 employees and invest a minimum of $500 million in capital improvements.
The initiative has proven to be successful in encouraging companies like Wieland Rolled Products to invest in Illinois and contribute to the growth of the advanced manufacturing sector. This not only benefits the local economy but also helps to create a sustainable future by promoting the development of electric vehicles and renewable energy.
With this legislation in place, Illinois continues to attract businesses that prioritize innovation and sustainability. The success of Rep. Elik's initiative demonstrates the effectiveness of collaboration between government officials and private companies in driving economic growth and job creation.
