State Representative Amy Elik has successfully pushed legislation through the House Transportation: Vehicles & Safety Committee aimed at enhancing safety on Illinois roadways. The bill focuses on improving safety measures for motorists approaching tow truck vehicles parked on the side of the road.

Elik expressed optimism about the progress made, stating, "There is more work that needs to be done with this legislation before it moves in the House, but it’s a step in the right direction. This legislation will help motorists see tow truck lights much easier and it will better protect tow truck operators and motorists passing vehicles receiving emergency assistance."
