Mascoutah Elementary School has been named a National Blue Ribbon School by the U.S. Department of Education. The school is one of 18 in Illinois to receive this recognition in 2024.
The award acknowledges schools that "excel in academic performance or make significant progress in closing achievement gaps among various student groups," according to a news release from the Department of Education. Schools are evaluated based on student performance data, including assessment results, subgroup performance, and graduation rates.
In total, 356 schools across the United States were awarded the National Blue Ribbon status this year.
Illinois State Representative Kevin Schmidt extended his congratulations to Mascoutah Elementary School. He stated, "Congratulations to all the students and staff who made this remarkable achievement possible. This honor is a testament to everyone in our community’s work to lift us all up. Congrats Mascoutah Elementary!"
