Representative Amy Elik attended Southwestern Illinois College's Manufacturing Day event, celebrating National Manufacturing Day with high school students. The event took place at SWIC's Granite City campus and attracted over 1,500 students from 45 schools in the region.
In her statement, Representative Elik expressed her appreciation for the event. "On National Manufacturing Day today, I had the pleasure of attending the Manufacturing Day event for high school students at Southwestern Illinois College’s Granite City campus," she said. She highlighted the significance of such events in providing students with opportunities to explore potential careers. "Over 1500 high school students from 45 schools in the region attended today to learn about the programs and facilities at SWIC that can get them into good-paying and rewarding careers quickly."
Elik also extended her gratitude to those involved in organizing and participating in the event. "Thank you to SWIC for putting on this impactful event for our area students, and thank you to all the employers who attended and shared job opportunities with the students!"
The gathering served as an opportunity for young individuals to gain insight into manufacturing career paths through interactions with educational programs and industry representatives.
