With winter on the horizon, Illinois residents are being urged to consider the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) for support with their energy bills. This federal initiative aims to assist low-income households in managing their energy costs.

Currently, the application period is open for priority groups such as senior citizens, households with disabled family members, families with children under five years old, and individuals at risk of disconnection. From November 1, all income-eligible households will have the opportunity to apply for this assistance.

Residents interested in learning more about LIHEAP or checking their eligibility can visit helpillinoisfamilies.com or reach out to their local community action agency.
