U.S. Congressman Mike Bost, who represents Illinois’ 12th district, shared updates on his congressional activities and community engagement through a series of posts on social media in mid-July 2025.

On July 14, Bost announced an upcoming virtual event: "I'll be hosting a live telephone town hall at 6:15pm on Monday, July 21st. You can register at https://t.co/FDJJB0k8zI. Hope to hear from you soon as we cover my latest work for you in Congress and what the One Big, Beautiful Bill means for Southern Illinois." The post included details about registration and the topics he planned to address during the town hall.

The following day, July 15, Bost highlighted discussions with agricultural leaders: "It was great to meet with leaders from the National Council of Farmer Cooperatives today to talk about how we can keep Southern Illinois agriculture strong. We discussed protecting Section 199A tax relief for family farms, the next steps for the Farm Bill, and the urgent need to". This reflects ongoing concerns among local farmers regarding federal tax policies and legislative actions affecting their operations.

On July 16, Bost marked an important milestone in mental health support services: "Today marks three years since 988 launched as the 24/7 national Suicide and Crisis Lifeline. Anyone in crisis can call 988 for free, confidential support. Veterans can press 1 to be connected directly with professionals at the Veterans Crisis Line, many of whom are veterans". His post drew attention to available resources for individuals facing crises and specifically addressed support for veterans.

Bost has represented Illinois’s 12th District in Congress since replacing Gerald Hawkins in 2015. He previously served two decades in the Illinois House of Representatives after beginning his political career on the Jackson County Board. Born in Murphysboro in 1960, Bost continues to reside there while serving his constituents. In addition to his political roles, he graduated from the University of Illinois' Certified Firefighter II Academy in 1993.
