FOIA Request to City of Fairview Heights Regarding Unpaid Parking Violations on October 28, 2024.
As part of our ongoing commitment to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at Metro East Sun have submitted a request under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act (5 ILCS 140) to the City of Fairview Heights.
The request specifically seeks access to records of all unpaid parking violations within the city. This includes the names and addresses of offenders, the amounts due for each violation, dates when the violations occurred, and total amounts due.
Our aim is to shed light on these matters and provide transparency for the public. Access to such public records is essential in fulfilling our professional responsibilities which include holding public institutions accountable.
We believe that as a media organization actively involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, we are eligible for a fee waiver for this request.
