State Representative Kevin Schmidt of East St. Louis, Illinois, has continued his commitment to supporting local communities by donating his November pay raise to Catholic Urban Programs. This donation was made in the form of a food contribution, part of an ongoing effort by Schmidt to redirect his monthly pay raises to different local food pantries and non-profit organizations since he voted against the legislative pay raise last year.

Schmidt stated, "Our local food pantries need our help," reinforcing his dedication to giving back. He added, "As promised, I donate back my personal pay raise each month to a local food pantry or community organization. I’m putting my money where my mouth is."

Catholic Urban Programs focuses on serving those in need within the Diocese, especially in East St. Louis and nearby areas. Their mission includes promoting human dignity and helping individuals achieve self-sufficiency through various support programs like crisis intervention and housing security. Schmidt's donation supports their annual Thanksgiving Food Drive aimed at assisting those in need.

For those seeking assistance with food and household goods due to temporary or ongoing challenges, resources are available. More information can be found at https://repschmidt.com/in-need-of-assistance-find-a-food-pantry-in-your-area/.
