Rep. Mike Bost, representing Illinois' 12th district in the U.S. Congress, recently shared a series of tweets addressing agricultural policy and his involvement in legislative activities. Bost, who has been serving since 2015 after replacing Gerald Hawkins, has a background in local politics and firefighting.

On December 4, 2024, Rep. Bost expressed his concerns regarding California's Proposition 12 and its impact on farmers outside the state. He stated, "California has no right to tell farmers in Illinois how to raise their livestock or run their farms. Prop 12 policies are hurting our farmers and producers." He emphasized that this issue is part of his focus while working on the upcoming Farm Bill.

In another tweet on the same day, Bost reaffirmed his commitment as Southern Illinois' representative on the House Agriculture Committee. He tweeted, "As Southern Illinois' voice on the House Agriculture Committee, I'm committed to making sure our farmers have a say in what directly impacts their farms, their communities, and their livelihoods."

The following day, December 5, 2024, Rep. Bost mentioned participating in a meeting with notable figures selected by President Trump for leadership roles in a new governmental department. He noted: "I joined my House Republican colleagues this afternoon for a meeting with Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy, President Trump’s picks to lead the new Department of Government Efficiency."
