Rep. Mike Bost, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Illinois' 12th district, shared updates on Twitter regarding discussions with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) about Little Grassy Lake. His tweets, posted on December 13, 2024, highlighted concerns over communication issues and ongoing efforts to address them.

In a tweet from December 13, Bost stated: "This morning I met with U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Director Martha Williams to address confusion about the draining of Little Grassy Lake. While dam repairs are necessary, FWS’s communication with the public and Congress has been unacceptable."

Bost further detailed that "The lake will drain at one foot per week and remain accessible for limited recreational use, though the final water level is unclear." He emphasized his demand for clear answers regarding ongoing questions and assurances that the lake will eventually be refilled and restored.

He concluded by mentioning that "FWS has committed to improving communication, and I’ll ensure Southern Illinoisans stay informed."
