The Illinois state legislature's actions impact various aspects of life, from taxes to education and support programs. While the legislative process is outlined in the Illinois Constitution, the human element involved is constantly changing. Legislators bring diverse backgrounds, priorities, and personalities that influence their voting decisions. Group dynamics can affect whether a bill passes or fails on any given day.

State Senators and Representatives are elected to represent their constituents through legislation and voting.
