Rep. Mike Bost, a U.S. Congressman representing Illinois' 12th district since 2015, recently shared several updates on legislative activities via social media. Bost, who has a long-standing political career including service in the Illinois House of Representatives and the Jackson County Board, took to Twitter to announce significant developments concerning two pieces of legislation.

On January 23, 2025, Rep. Mike Bost expressed his honor in presiding over the House floor for a pivotal vote that marked President Trump's first major legislative victory of his second term. He stated: "Honored to preside over the House floor for an important vote that delivers President Trump his first major legislative victory of his second term. The House passed the Laken Riley Act today, and it’s on its way to President Trump’s desk to be signed into law."

In a subsequent tweet on the same day, Bost elaborated on the specifics of the Laken Riley Act. He noted: "The bill, which requires ICE to detain any illegal immigrant who commits theft, was named after a young girl who was murdered by an illegal immigrant who shouldn’t have been released from custody after being charged with theft."

Later that day, Rep. Bost communicated his support for another piece of legislation focused on abortion survivors. He tweeted: "Today I proudly voted for the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act to ensure every baby who survives an abortion receives proper medical care and legal protections. Every life is precious, and I will always stand for the unborn and fight to uphold the sanctity of life."
