State Representative Amy Elik has shared updates on her recent activities and developments in Illinois politics. She announced her committee assignments for the 104th General Assembly, where she will serve as the Republican Spokesperson for the General Services Appropriations and Elementary/Secondary Education: Education Policy committees. Additionally, she will be a member of the Ethics and Elections, International Relations, Tourism, and Trade, as well as Revenue and Finance committees.
A significant legal action was initiated by House Minority Leader Tony McCombie with support from State Representatives Ryan Spain and Dan Ugaste. They filed a lawsuit with the Illinois Supreme Court challenging what they describe as extreme partisan gerrymandering in the state's legislative maps. "Illinois’ State House District Maps are the byproduct of extreme partisan gerrymandering," McCombie stated. The lawsuit seeks to have a special master draft a new redistricting plan that complies with constitutional provisions regarding district compactness and partisan fairness.

She also co-chairs the Illinois Manufacturing Caucus which recently convened to discuss legislative priorities for 2025.
The trial of former Illinois House Speaker Michael J. Madigan concluded its closing arguments this week. The jury is now deliberating on charges related to alleged bribery, influence peddling, and racketeering involving Madigan and his associate Michael McClain. Evidence presented included wiretap recordings detailing various deals allegedly made by Madigan.
