City of Jerseyville City Council met Jan. 7

Here are the minutes provided by the council:

Mayor Kevin Stork called the regular session of the Jerseyville City Council to order Tuesday, January 7th at City Hall beginning at 6:00 p.m.

ROLL CALL

Present were Commissioners Anthony Steckel, Steve Pohlman, Zachary Crawford, John Miles, and Mayor Kevin Stork. City Attorney William Strang was present. City Clerk Denise Hayes took minutes.

Comm. Pohlman led the opening prayer and pledge of allegiance was recited.

MINUTES

A motion was made by Comm. Pohlman, seconded by Comm. Miles, to approve the minutes from the regular meeting held Monday, December 23, 2024. Roll call vote showed Pohlman aye, Crawford abstain, Steckel aye, Miles aye, and Mayor Stork aye. Motion carried.

BILLS

A motion was made by Comm. Steckel, seconded by Comm. Crawford, to approve the bills as presented for January 7, 2025, in the amount of $352,989.05. Roll call vote showed all voted aye, no nays, motion carried.

SERVICE AWARD PRESENTATION

Mayor Stork presented service awards to the following employees: Bob Manns, 5 years; Paul Lewis, 15 years; Scott Woelfel, 20 years; Nicholas Woelfel, 5 years; Jamie Damm, 10 years; Nancy Ferguson, 20 years; Ashlee Brown, 5 years; Brian Ray, 5 years; and Keith Norman, 20 years. Noted for record – Joseph Susnig, 35 years award presented later. Officers Jamie Damm and Nick Woelfel, and Fire Chief Norman were present for awards.

NEW BUSINESS

A. A motion was made by Comm. Miles, seconded by Comm. Steckel, to approve renewal of contract with Illinois Valley Jerseyville Community Day Service program for trash removal at designated specific locations throughout Jerseyville. Contract is good through June 30, 2026. Roll call vote showed all voted aye, no nays, motion carried.

B. A motion was made by Comm. Crawford, seconded by Comm. Steckel, to approve a statement of intent to participate in the Jersey County Multi-Jurisdictional All-Hazard Mitigation Plan for the 2026 five (5) year plan update. The contact person for the City is Jeff Soer. Roll call vote showed all voted aye, no nays, motion carried.

OTHER BUSINESS:

Mayor Stork announced the following:

-City Hall will be closed Monday, January 20th for Martin Luther King Jr. birthday.

Comm. Miles acknowledged the excellent job City crews did in the recent snow event.

PUBLIC COMMENT - None

ADJOURNMENT: Being no other business to be discussed, a motion was made by Comm. Miles, seconded by Comm. Crawford, to adjourn the meeting at 6:12 p.m. Roll call vote showed all voted aye, no nays, motion carried.
