The Illinois Secretary of State has released the results of a statewide vote regarding the design of the state flag. Voters had to choose between the current flag and nine other designs. The current flag emerged as the preferred choice, securing a lead of over 130,000 votes. The second most popular design received only 32,898 votes.

State Representative Amy Elik expressed her satisfaction with the outcome. She stated, "By an overwhelming margin, the people have spoken and want to keep our current state flag. Thank you to everyone who took the time to vote to keep our flag! Our state has much bigger problems than picking a new flag right now."
