The Nashville High School Lady Hornettes basketball team has secured the IHSA Class 2A State Championship title after defeating the Peoria Notre Dame Irish. This victory marks the second time in the program's history that they have achieved this feat.
The Lady Hornettes, driven by last year's narrow one-point loss to the same opponents, emerged victorious with a decisive 55-29 win. They concluded their season with an impressive record of 35 wins and 3 losses.
State Representative Charlie Meier acknowledged the team's success on the floor of the Illinois House of Representatives. "I know how much this means to the community of Nashville," Meier stated. "My mom graduated from Nashville High School, so I am familiar with the joy the Hornets bring to the community. Congratulations, Lady Hornettes, and I hope to have you up in Springfield to celebrate your victory soon."
Meier extended his congratulations and expressed his hopes for a future celebration in Springfield.
