Rep. Amy Elik, a Republican from Alton, was present for the groundbreaking ceremony of the Alton High School Construction Trades Class in Alton. The event marks an important step forward for students interested in pursuing careers in the trades.

"It’s great to see the trades getting the attention they deserve," Elik noted during the ceremony. "Students should have the opportunity to learn the trades, and at this new site they will learn new home-building skills. I can’t wait to see where these bright students go!"

The initiation of the new construction site aims to bolster the skills of students in practical, hands-on trades education, offering them a gateway into the skilled labor workforce.
