State Representative Amy Elik (R-Alton) recently hosted two local women in Springfield for the "Women to Watch" conference, an annual event by House Republicans that highlights emerging talents statewide. This year, Elik selected Kristen Burns and Amber Scott to attend the conference.
Kristen Burns is the Executive Director of the Wood River Business Alliance, aimed at revitalizing Wood River and fostering new development. Her voluntary work spans multiple organizations, including Habitat for Humanity, the Wood River Library Foundation, Mustache March 4PD, Illinois COPS, the Arthritis Foundation, Alton Main Street, and she serves on the East Alton-Wood River School Board.
Amber Scott holds the position of Chief Experience Officer at 1st Mid America Credit Union. She serves on the board of Senior Services Plus, the Southwest Illinois District Auxiliary Board of the United Way of Greater St. Louis, and the Illinois Credit Union Foundation Board. Additionally, Scott is the Legislative Grassroots Coordinator for 1st Mid America Credit Union and the Legislative Forum Representative for the Southern Burnett Chapter of Credit Unions.

The "Women to Watch" conference serves as a platform for representatives statewide to commend the significant contributions of women. Attendees participated in various activities designed to empower and inspire, including a brunch and listening session, a Capitol tour, and a presentation titled "Own Your Power."
