Rep. Amy Elik has voiced criticism following Governor JB Pritzker's testimony at the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee hearing in Washington DC, which focused on immigration.
Elik stated, "Under Governor Pritzker’s reign, Illinois has become the go-to destination for illegal immigrants, where they can receive platinum healthcare, housing, food, and more – all on the taxpayer’s dime." She further attributed this situation to what she describes as "reckless leadership" by Governor Pritzker.
Elik accused Governor Pritzker of deflecting blame for what she sees as failures in leadership. She remarked that his actions have made Illinois a top destination for illegal immigrants and criticized him for campaigning nationwide while residents of Illinois face challenges due to his policies.
"As long as Illinois continues its poor public policies that put illegal immigrants above Illinois families," Elik argued, "we will continue to see families and businesses leaving this state in droves."
She concluded by emphasizing that the issue should not be partisan: "Illinois citizens’ safety and economic prosperity should be our first priority."
