Veterans in Illinois are being encouraged to participate in a survey aimed at improving services for them. The survey is designed to gather feedback on what is working and what needs improvement, helping lawmakers better represent veterans in the Illinois General Assembly.
The Illinois State Police (ISP) will host its first all-women recruitment event at Southwestern Illinois College on July 31. This event aims to introduce women to career opportunities within ISP as both sworn officers and civilian employees. Attendees will learn about various divisions such as Academy and Training, Patrol, Criminal Investigation, Forensic Services, and more. The event is free and open to the public.
In light of the sentencing of the ComEd Four, there is renewed focus on addressing corruption in Illinois. House Republicans have proposed measures to strengthen ethics laws but have faced opposition from Democrats. The call continues for holding elected officials accountable to rebuild public trust.
A tire recycling event was recently held at Freeburg Recreation Park with a future collection scheduled for September 6 in Cahokia Heights. These events aim to protect the environment by reducing landfill waste and promoting material reuse.
State Representative Kevin Schmidt partnered with ImpactLife for a blood drive at O’Fallon Township. “I want to thank everyone who attended my blood drive because all of you made a difference in helping to save lives,” said Schmidt.
Schmidt also met with constituents in East St. Louis discussing legislation focused on economic growth, safer neighborhoods, education opportunities through the ITRADE program, infrastructure improvements, and ending food insecurity.
Residents are invited to nominate their favorite business in the 114th District for recognition as Business of the Month. Recognized businesses receive a certificate and media exposure.
