Rep. Mike Bost, U.S. Congressman representing Illinois' 12th district, recently shared updates on federal funding and legislative efforts aimed at supporting communities in Southern Illinois through a series of posts on his official Twitter account.
On August 18, 2025, Bost announced new resources for Lawrence County: "Excited to announce $300,000 in federal funding from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services for Lawrence County to boost overdose response efforts. This grant will help save lives and support local communities in fighting the opioid crisis."
Continuing his outreach, Bost highlighted meetings with constituents as part of his "One Big, Beautiful Bill" tour. On August 19, 2025, he wrote: "Next up on my One Big, Beautiful Bill tour, I met with local families at a Working Families Roundtable at Southeastern Illinois University to talk about how this historic legislation strengthens households for the better. The law extends the Child Tax Credit to give families more".
Later that day, Bost reported a visit to a local business: "I visited the Teffertiller Car Dealership in McLeansboro to talk with the owner, Alan Teffertiller and Hamilton County Board Chairman John Chapman about ways the One Big, Beautiful Bill will help Southern Illinoisans save on taxes when securing a loan for a new car. Thanks to".
Mike Bost has represented Illinois' 12th congressional district since defeating William L. Enyart in 2014. He has since secured re-election multiple times—overcoming Charles Baricevic in 2016 (54.3% of votes), Raymond Lenzi in 2020 (60.4%), Brendan Kelly in 2018 (51.6%), and Chip Markel most recently in 2022 with a significant margin of victory (75%). His ongoing legislative initiatives and constituent engagement reflect continued activity within his district.
