Rep. Mike Bost, a U.S. Congressman from Illinois and one of the only professional firefighters in Congress, shared updates this week on his legislative actions and community engagements through a series of posts on social media.

On September 7, 2025, Bost announced his support for national security and energy initiatives by stating, "This week I voted for the Energy and Water Development Appropriations Act to strengthen our national security and ensure America’s energy independence. This bill makes critical investments in our nuclear capabilities, supports new energy technologies, and puts our vast natural".

Later that day, Bost highlighted his meeting with local first responders from Karnak: "I had the chance to meet with Charles and Tamra Peck, as well as Carly and Lucas Jones, from Karnak, who serve their community as firefighters. As one of the only professional firefighters in Congress, I never miss an opportunity to visit with those who keep us safe. I will".

On September 8, 2025, Bost congratulated a local choir for receiving national recognition: "Congratulations to Marion’s Market Street Music Conservatory Adult Choir on being selected to perform at the White House this Christmas season. This is an incredible honor and a wonderful opportunity to showcase the talent and spirit of Southern Illinois on the national stage!"

Bost has represented Illinois in Congress since 2014. He has secured re-election multiple times against various opponents: William L. Enyart in 2014 (winning 52.5% of the vote), Charles Baricevic in 2016 (54.3%), Brendan Kelly in 2018 (51.6%), Raymond Lenzi in 2020 (60.4%), and Chip Markel in 2022 (75%). These victories reflect consistent electoral support throughout his tenure.
