Rep. Mike Bost, U.S. Congressman from Illinois, posted a series of statements on his Twitter account regarding the attack and subsequent death of conservative leader Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University, as well as a message commemorating September 11.
On September 10, 2025, Bost wrote: "Tracy and I are shocked and saddened by the horrific attack on conservative leader @charliekirk11 at Utah Valley University today. Our prayers are with him and his family as we await confirmation of his condition."
Later that evening, Bost followed up with another post addressing Kirk's death: "The murder of Charlie Kirk reflects just how far our nation has spiraled from the days of political discourse to the depths of political violence. No American should fear for their life simply for sharing their point-of-view. Rest in peace, Charlie Kirk."
The following day, on September 11, Bost marked the anniversary of the terrorist attacks in 2001: "Today we remember and honor the lives lost on September 11, 2001, and the heroes who ran toward danger to save others. Mike Bost has served as a U.S. Representative since winning his seat in 2014 against William L. Enyart with 52.5% of the vote to Enyart’s 41.9%. He was subsequently re-elected in 2016 against Charles Baricevic (54.3% to 39.7%), in 2018 against Brendan Kelly (51.6% to 45.4%), in 2020 against Raymond Lenzi (60.4% to 39.7%), and most recently in 2022 against Chip Markel with a significant margin (75% to 25%).
