On September 15, Bost highlighted his role in managing debate on the House floor regarding veterans legislation. He wrote, "Today I managed debate on the House floor as we considered 14 bipartisan veterans bills that will help boost health care access for those who served, improve the VA disability claims process, and modernize the transition to civilian life for our active-duty men and women. Later that evening, Bost addressed a recent tragedy involving Charlie Kirk. In his post dated September 15 at 23:13 UTC, he stated, "Tonight I joined my colleagues in Congress at a prayer vigil for Charlie Kirk. Together, we mourn the loss of a life taken far too soon and lift up his family, loved ones, and all those impacted by his horrific and hateful assassination. May God grant them comfort and peace in".
The following day, Bost commented on federal research policy changes related to fetal tissue use. On September 16 at 13:10 UTC he posted: "The National Institutes of Health will not renew federal grants for research using aborted fetal tissue. I have long fought to end the use of taxpayer dollars for this kind of research. Thank you President Trump for righting this wrong and reestablishing that America is a nation".
Mike Bost has represented Illinois in Congress since first winning election in 2014 against William L. Enyart with approximately 52.5% of the vote compared to Enyart's roughly 41.9%. He has subsequently secured reelection multiple times: defeating Charles Baricevic in 2016 with about 54.3% of votes; Raymond Lenzi in 2020 with about 60.4%; Brendan Kelly in 2018 with about 51.6%; and Chip Markel most recently in 2022 with around three-quarters of ballots cast.
