Rep. Mike Bost, Chairman of the House Veterans’ Affairs Committee and U.S. Representative for Illinois’ 12th Congressional District, posted a series of updates on social media this week addressing legislative efforts in Washington, D.C., veterans' affairs, and national remembrance.

On September 18, 2025, Bost wrote about recent legislative activity: "This week, I voted on a series of bills to make Washington, D.C., safer for residents and law enforcement. These bills strengthen criminal sentencing, allow police to take necessary action against dangerous suspects, and ensure serious juvenile offenders are held accountable."

The following day, Bost commented on an executive decision related to veterans: "Big win from the Trump administration for our veterans! https://t.co/aPLHM6BLaB" (September 19, 2025).

Later that same day, he recognized POW/MIA Recognition Day with a message honoring service members: "Today on POW/MIA Recognition Day, we honor the brave Americans who were taken prisoner in defense of our nation and those who never returned home. Their sacrifice, and the pain carried by their families, must never be forgotten. As Chairman of the House Veterans’ Affairs https://t.co/RvrhMYNjSb" (September 19, 2025).

Mike Bost has served as the U.S. Representative for Illinois’ 12th district since winning his first congressional election in 2014. He has secured re-election multiple times with varying margins: defeating William L. Enyart in 2014 with 52.5% of the vote; Charles Baricevic in 2016 with 54.3%; Brendan Kelly in 2018 with 51.6%; Raymond Lenzi in 2020 with 60.4%; and Chip Markel in 2022 with a significant majority of 75%.
