Rep. Mike Bost, a U.S. Congressman from Illinois, addressed ongoing political and international issues in a series of posts on X (formerly Twitter) in early October 2025. Bost commented on the federal government shutdown, the anniversary of the 2023 Hamas attack on Israel, and funding for healthcare for non-citizens.

On October 6, 2025, Bost highlighted the impact of the government shutdown on military personnel, stating, "As the Schumer Shutdown rolls on, here’s the next important date to keep an eye on: October 15th. That’s the date active-duty troops are due to receive their next paycheck. House Republicans passed a clean funding extension weeks ago, but Senate Democrats continue holding it up".

The following day, Bost marked the second anniversary of the 2023 Hamas attack on Israel, writing, "Two years ago today, Hamas launched a brutal attack on Israel, murdering over 1,200 innocent people and taking hundreds of hostages. Today, 48 are still believed to be in Hamas custody, with 20 thought to still be alive. The United States stands with Israel as President Trump and".

Later on October 7, Bost addressed claims about government funding for non-citizens' healthcare. He posted, "Democrats claim they didn’t shut down the government to fund benefits for illegal immigrants. But here’s the truth: their plan would funnel nearly $200 billion into healthcare for illegal immigrants and non-citizens over the next decade, money that could fully cover the https://t.co/mocIuB7x2d".

Bost has served as the U.S. Representative for Illinois's 12th congressional district since 2015. He has consistently won re-election, defeating Chip Markel in 2022 with 75% of the vote, Raymond Lenzi in 2020 with 60.4%, Charles Baricevic in 2016 with 54.3%, William L. Enyart in 2014 with 52.5%, and Brendan Kelly in 2018 with 51.6%.
