Jennifer Korte is vying to unseat State Rep. Katie Stuart in November.

Korte won over Joe Hackler and recalled how her supporters believed in her, and even sponsored her campaign. She noted how the older generation is close to her heart.

"My mom's older friend, Sylvia, was the first person to donate to my campaign: $30," Korte stated on Facebook. "I knew this was no small donation for Sylvia and asked her to keep her money. Sylvia was insistent. I advocated for the kids during COVID, but those of you who know me, know that I have a big heart for our older generation. I believe they are the most interesting of our population and their knowledge is vastly underused. I will always advocate for our senior citizens."

State Sen. Jason Plummer backed Korte over Stuart in the 112th House District. Plummer noted that Stuart is picked and funded by Mike Madigan and that voting for anyone other than Korte is a vote for out-of-town special interests, Metro East Sun reported. Korte and her family are from Madison County and they understand the people and issues there. Korte was a social worker at Barnes-Jewish Hospital before she became a stay-at-home mom in 2005. Korte was motivated to run to restore parental rights, get rid of career politicians, prevent overreach and waste and make Illinois thrive again.

Stuart has a record of irresponsible spending including supporting pay raises for politicians, tax increases on families and businesses and more borrowing. She supported a budget for the fiscal year 2021, billions of dollars out of balance with the hopes of a bailout from the federal government, according to Metro East Sun.

In 2019, Planned Parenthood built an 18,000-square-foot facility along the Illinois-Missouri border in Southern Illinois under the disguise of a shell company. The facility was located in District 112 and Stuart was quick to defend the operation. Metro East Sun has previously reported Stuart told NPR that the reason for the secrecy was that they did not want any interference with the construction. Stuart has also defended Planned Parenthood against accusations that the clinic is nothing more than an avenue for profit.
