The Edwardsville, Illinois City Council met recently to discuss various monthly reports of elected officials and to review  important city ordinances and issues.

To start the meeting, the council heard monthly reports. This included financial and activity reports from the city clerk, the city treasurer, and the police and fire chiefs. Additionally, the public works director walked the council through building, electrical and plumbing permits.

During the next portion of the meeting, the council heard from some committees and listened to motions and ordinances. Cindy Reinhardt of the Historical Preservation Committee commented on the Route 66 conference. Walter Williams, economic community development director, briefly touched on the “Experience Edwardsville” app. Most issues with the app had been resolved and 500 citizens had downloaded the app so far.

A motion was carried and passed to approve the Employee Healthcare Renewal with Coventry Healthcare for 2016. Another motion that passed dealt with installing five streetlights into the municipal streetlight system on Cloverdale Drive and Nickel Plate Trail. An ordinance authorizing and directing the issuance, sale and delivery of general obligation bonds was also discussed.

Mayor Hal Patton presided over the meeting. Aldermen Janet Stack, Tom Butts, Art Risavy, Jeanette Mallon, William Krause, Barb Jurgena-Stamer and Craig Louer were all in attendance.
