Alton City Council convened recently on several important resolutions and ordinances

The Alton, Illinois City Council convened recently to go over a host of resolutions and ordinances.

The council discussed a resolution stating that the existing contract between Interstate Petroleum Inc. and the City of Alton would be extended until October 31, 2016. According to the bid specification, all prices and conditions will stay the same.

Another resolution dealt with street maintenance. It stated $950,000 of Motor Fuel Tax funds would be used for maintaining streets and highways during 2016.

One ordinance put before the council established no parking on the east side of Beall Avenue. Another amended the zoning ordinance pertaining to Special Uses in R-2 zoning.

Mayor Brant Walker presided over the meeting, along with City Clerk Mary T. Boulds and City Treasurer Cynthia A. Roth. Aldermen present included Jim Ryan, Carolyn MacAfee, Mike Velloff, Alice Martin, Charles Brake, Gary Fleming and David Boulds.
