Granite City Fire and Water Committee plans to examine the resolution for fire department breathing apparatuses at upcoming meeting.
The Fire and Water Committee for Granite City, Illinois, meet from 5:45 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. today, Jan. 19.
The committee will examine and discuss a resolution that would solicit bids for 24 self-contained breathing apparatuses. These apparatuses would be used by the Granite City Fire Department.
The fire department has provided emergency response to the Granite City community for more than 100 years. It serves 30,000 citizens over 19 square miles, responding to more than 5,100 calls between its three strategically located stations.
The department provides fire suppression, advanced life support EMS, vehicle extrication, technical rescue, arson investigation, hazardous material mitigation, disaster management, risk reduction education and fire code building inspections.
