Low-income residents are encouraged to apply for the Madison County Community Development Energy Assistance program.

Low-income residents are encouraged to apply for the Madison County Community Development Energy Assistance program.

The Madison County Community Development Energy Assistance Office has announced that it has funds available for low-income home energy assistance, encouraging residents in need of assistance with their bills to complete an application for the program as soon as possible.

The funds are part of what the energy assistance office has labeled the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP).

"Even though we have so far had a mild winter, some residents could use help with their heating bills," Madison County Chairman Alan Dunstan said. "LIHEAP is designed to help those in need, especially those households with young children or senior citizens who are especially impacted by the cold. Because funds are currently available, Madison County residents in need should take advantage of this assistance program at their earliest convenience."

The staff of this program is readily available to assist residents with their applications. Residents who would like to apply should contact the nearest outreach site in their area to schedule an appointment.
